Introduction
A lesson in Appropriate Thanksgiving Lessons – Part 1 History course.

Pictured above is a representation of the corn, which is the origin of our Thanksgiving tradition today. The Wampanoag’s were pivotal for the survival of the Plymouth colony, they taught the new settlers how to fish, extract sap from maple trees, and most importantly how to grow an abundant amount of maize (what we know today as corn). Without their help, the colonists would have likely perished. The Harvest Celebration, now known as Thanksgiving, celebrated the first successful harvest of corn. This abundant crop was served for the very first time that fall, and continues to be a tradition today.
